The is supported in principle, as it will positively connect parts of Chineham, Sherfield Park and the Business Park area. However, it won't easily serve those who are on the other side of Chineham and far side of Lychpit. Consideration also needs to be given to the impact this new infrastructure development will have on the existing communities on either side of the rail track.
Any positive impact that regeneration brings is supported. However, this also needs to include supporting a sustainable night-time economy where people feel safe to be in the town centre after 8pm, such as using the train station and going to/from the Anvil. Also, more regular bus servicse and businesses being open in the evening will also support this, such as late night shopping opportunities.
The provision of affordable housing - good quality and truly affordable - of varied dwellings and tenures is so important. The council's strategic partnerships with housing associations and developers will be key.
I support site designated allocations to support to Gypsy and Traveller community. The key will be ongoing and effective community liaison to build trust and an understanding for this way of life (due to the stigma and prejudice held towards this community) as well as vice versa where communities are settled.
